This time I hit the road to the heaven of Flamingo; Oum Erraneb Lake. There in the back of beyond placethe lake is situated 15 KM far from the city. Visitors come from across the country to enjoy the panoramic view mingled with paint of pinky birds, and palm trees.

The lake with its humid climate,  also possess many natural resources;   surface water also underground river or aquifers, sun, sands, plants, and birds, which displays a fascinating oasis view. Oum Erraneb, right is next to the large dune called Erg Touil.
In the winter’s evenings, the lake offers a relaxing outlet for local inhabitants and tourist attraction for visitors, especially photographers. The Flamingo captivated us that view was so marvelous, it makes you contemplate and feel the sense of instant inner peace.

Oum Erraneb became one of the most desired places a must visit by Algerians and tourists coming from Europe. According to Ramsar Convention on wetlands of international importance especially as waterfowl Habitat, dated in 1971. Chott Oum Erraneb is registered as a nature reserve for migratory birds. Also, possess a number of plants essentially as; Tamarix gallica, Salsola, Zygophyllum album, Halocnemum Strolilaceum, Phragmites communis, Jones, Oudeyna Africana.

Therefore, preserving such cultural heritage is necessary. We as citizens, must keep an eye on our ecological systems, and contribute to its preservation.
